Cloth diaper newletter #7
Just a couple of quick reminders. The first is that the next cloth diaper
class will be January 4 at 1:00pm. Most likely it will be held at the
Yoga House at Civano near Irvington and Houghton, but it will depend on
how many people sign up. Cost is $10.00 per family. RSVP by December 30
to secure a spot. The other reminder is that the holiday sale will end on
December 12, so if you wanted to take part, please be sure to order before
then. I only have a few Bumgenius 4 packs left and once they are gone,
they are gone... I won't be able to order anymore at that price.
My custumer tip of the day isn't exactly about cloth diapering, but I
think its a great cause to support....
"Please consider donating new or gently used items to From One Mother To
Another. We are a non-profit agency dedicated to getting families
withchildren aged 0-18 what they need to survive and THRIVE! Our Community
Partner, The Body Shop at Park Place Mall has generously donated time,
space, and materials for a Giving Tree for our families. We invite you to
drop by and bring an unwrapped donation. Every little bit helps
especially in these troubled financial times! If you would like to
purchase something to give, our families would love new robes and toys for
holiday gifts for their children. We also can always use gift cards for
groceries. If you would like to "re-gift" your gently used items, we need
baby swings, walkers, cribs and pack and plays, clothes, shoes, winter
jackets, strollers (please no umbrella strollers) and children's books.
Please forward this email to everyone you know and print and post this
flyer anywhere and everywhere you can think of! The more people who
know, the more who will give and for every person who gives...one less
child goes without this holiday season! Wishing the happiest of holidays
to you and yours... Season's Greetings, From One Mother To Another"
Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season from my family to your's.

HI,
I'm very excited to announce that I've been adding more and more products to my site. You can now get Fuzzi Bunz, Bumgenius Organic One Size All in Ones (wow, what a mouthful!), Snappis, and Citrus Deo Disks. Thank you all for your business and helping me grow! Check back often as I hope to continue to offer more and more things.
If you are not familiar with Baby Legs, I think you'll be excited by them (I know I am!). I can't be the only one with a baby that will NOT stay still for diaper changes and getting dressed! And there are sooooo many uses for them. Another example of how something so simple can do so many things (now why didn't I come up with them?)
Just a reminder that the next cloth diaper class is this Sunday at 1:00. Please RSVP by Wednesday to secure your spot. Its $10 per family. I also offer individual consults for $25.00.
I'm sorry to say that I can no longer meet for pick ups. Its just too difficult to work around with 3 small kids. I do want to let you know that I don't profit on my shipping charges though. I ship priority mail and postage alone is at LEAST $4.75 but often more and I only charge $5.00 for orders under $50 and free shipping for over. I'm trying to make it fair and accessible (I figure time and travel expenses will set you back at least that much) and I hope you understand.
Customer tip for the day... I'm running out of them! Please e-mail me with some fresh tips!

HI Everyone, Have any of you read the Sunday Times Article about diapers? http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article4969413.ece Go ahead and read it... BUT I also you ask you to please read this... http://randd.defra.gov.uk/Document.aspx?Document=WR0705_7589_FRP.pdf This is that the actual study they reference. Okay, so maybe you won't want to read 32 pages, so I will summarize for you (and convert Celcius to Farenheit!) What does it say? It says that disposable diapers use 550kg of carbon dioxide over 2.5 years. The article then states that using cloth diapers uses more (570 kg on average). However, thats for "average" washing. If you wash your diapers at or below 140 degrees (I checked my hot water heater, its on 130 degrees which is hotter than most), line dry (here in Arizona, why not line dry? I do it about 90% of the time), washing fuller loads, and reusing them on additional children (again, why wouldn't we reuse them?) then you can reduce their carbon by about 200kg which is the equivalent of driving a car 621 miles. So, my conclusions are far different than that article's, but feel free to read it for yourself! So, customer tip for the day... check out your water heater temps, line dry as much as possible and hand those diapers down when you are done with them! Cloth diaper classes coming soon... I'm working on scheduling it, but it'll be Nov 22 or 23, time to be determined at The Yoga Hose at Civano. Cost is $10 per family. Please e-mail or call to RSVP. *Source: An updated lifecycle assessment study for disposable and reusable nappies Science Report – SC010018/SR2 Authors-Simon Aumônier, Michael Collins, Peter Garrett

Hi, Just a reminder that Ten Tiny Piggies will have a booth at the Tucson Green Festival this Saturday October 25, 2008 starting at 10:00. I'll have products available to see and purchase. I will be offering 5% off all items purchased at the Festival (cash purchases only... in fact not positive my credit card processing will actually work for me down there, but we'll give it a try). The Festival is located downtown at La Placita Village 110 S Church. My booth will be located in the Kids Planet area. Look for my big banner in front of my table. If you can't find me, you can try calling me, although if I'm talking with someone I obviously won't be able to answer right away, but will try to call back as soon as possible. Come early to make sure you can get what you want (although if I run out, I can certainly order more and ship to you as well!) In other news, check out the link to the news story by KOLD on cloth diapers. Thanks so much for all the volunteers to go on camera. I think it turned out really well! http://www.kold.com/Global/story.asp?S=9183907&nav=menu86_2 Customer tip for the day...To prevent and/or treat any staining on your diapers... (taken from Thirsties website www.thirstiesbaby.com) 1. Do a prewash with COLD water. HOT water tends to set staining. Prewash in COLD and then do a full cycle in HOT. 2. Always hang to dry in the sun. A stain may still be visible after one wash and dry in the sun, but over time, it will continue to fade. 3. A spritzing of lemon juice on the stain and then sunning will also help. 4. You can try commercial stain lifters, but you will need to wash with 1 Tbs of Dawn after to strip away the residue left behind. 5. Also, hydrogen peroxide may help...but do a small test spot first to be sure that it doesn't yellow the fabric. 6. Never use a wet pail. Soaking for too long soaks the stains and stink right in. Have a tip we can share? Let me know!

Thank you to all of you that have been kind enough to submit a testimonial to my site (as well as helping me come up with customer tips to share with all of you!) They can be viewed on the http://www.tentinypiggies.com/contact.html
A few things for this month. First, I have added a "on sale" section in the product section for clearance items. Second, many people don't realize that the manufacturers allow us to set our own prices but make us abide by a minimum retail price for their products. What this means is that sometimes I have to raise my prices and there isn't anything I can do to help it. So, I will be raising prices on the Imse Vimse Training pants and Swim diapers starting October 15 (so if you know you want some... try to order before that!). I'm sorry to have to do it but its part of my retailer agreeement with them.
I also wanted to remind you that the Tucson Green Festival will be October 25 from 10am-3pm downtown. I'll have a booth there, so if you want to see any items in person I'll have them there with me. I'll try to send out a reminder after I find out exactly where my booth will be located.
Customer tip for the day... One customer says that by turning her Thirsties AIO inside out and adding a couple of clean dry towels to the dryer, she can cut back on dryer time. I try to line dry whenever I can. The sun is a natural stain lifter and sanitizer and its free! (what other tricks can you share? Let me know!)

Heiny's to my list of products. It will take a bit to get my site updated
but if you are ready to order something please just call or e-mail me for
details. Some of the new items available (although I may not keep stock
of all of them, but you are able to order any of it) include a one size
pocket diaper, sized pocket diapers, trainers, fleece covers, reusable
nursing pads and menstrual pads, Grandma El's diaper cream (please use at
your own risk with cloth diapers... manufacturers will not cover any rash
cream issues with their warranties.) and Heiny Wash, etc... You can check
out Happy Heiny's website at www.happyheinys.com to see it all. However,
they are not always in stock of every item they show, so best to call me
so that I can check on availability.
Customer tip of the day.... if you find that your little one experiences a
rash and you would like to use rash cream, using a thick liner (not the
thin flushable kind) such as fleece between the diaper cream and the
diaper can protect your diapers... BUT make sure you also wash your liners
seperate from your diapers to avoid transfer of the cream in the wash.
Please note, the manufacturers of your diapers WILL NOT cover any problems
with your diapers due to rash cream, so do use care! Have another cloth
diaper tip that can help us, let me know!

that Matthew McConaughey, Tori Spelling, Brad Paisley and Kimberly
Williams, Anna Belknap (CSI NY), Diana Farr (Numb$rs),Dave Matthews,
Madonna and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s babies all use cloth diapers! Its a bit
sad that it takes celebrities to get the word out, but in this case, I'm
glad they do!
Speaking of mainstream... check out http://www.mrsgreengoesmainstream.com
You can subscribe to her newletter to find out other ways to go green and
if you check out her blog for today its about Ten Tiny Piggies and cloth
diapering! http://mrsgreengoesmainstream.blogspot.com/
Thanks Mrs. Green for helping spread the word!
I hope that you'll consider spreading the word as well. I'm compiling a
list of testimonials, so if you've been happy with your products and/or my
customer service, I hope you'll consider adding to it. I hope to add them
to my site within a few weeks. On the other hand, if there is something
that you have not been pleased with, I hope you'll let me know as well so
that I can improve!
Just a reminder that the Cloth Diaper Demo is this Saturday, September 13,
2008 from 1-2 at the Yoga House at Civano (check out
www.yogahouseatcivano.com for directions) We have quite a few RSVP's but
do have a few spaces left so if you are interested in joining us and
haven't already RSVPed you can still do so. It'll be a quick demo on what
I have available, some how to's and time to ask questions and see the
diapers first hand. If you can't make it this month I do have one in the
works for next month and will let you know when I have a date scheduled.
Customer tip for the day... If you use BumGenius 3.0, using one regular
insert with two newborn inserts has been a great overnight solution for
Jessica's 2 year old! Thanks Jessica! I use the Thirsties Pocket AIO
with two hemp inserts for overnight. I could maybe get away with one, but
I do LOVE my sleep so I don't risk it! Do you have a cloth diapering tip
that may help others? Let me know!
